Amsterdam Food Tour // Review

Even after living in the Netherlands for three years I was excited to take part in the Jordaan Amsterdam Food Tour. The tour includes twelve food tastings over the course of four hours. You’ll get the chance to sample most of the well known foods in Dutch cuisine. Although we’ve run across many of these …

A Quick Stop at Amsterdam’s Museum Square

A few weeks ago I was double-checking a few things and noticed that my passport had less then 6 months to expiration. That may seem like plenty of time to process a renewal but many countries won’t let you enter with a passport that expires in the next six months. I immediately scheduled an appointment …

Kids Museum Night Den Haag, 2018

Kids Museum Night Den Haag is one of my favorite yearly events. Museums around Den Haag open late at night and are filled to the brim with kids activities and events. The workshops and activities are aimed at kids aged 4-12. Last year Jeff went with the Big Little and a family friend and her dad. …

An Afternoon at Keukenhof in April

It has been a year of spring visitors which means lots of visits to the tulip garden, Keukenhof. We hit the timing just about right by visiting Keukenhof in April. This time around we attempted an afternoon visit and took the boat ride through the flower fields. In 2016, 2017 and in March we visited …

Strolling around Amsterdam // Photos

I found myself a few blocks outside of Amsterdam’s busy core in a more residential neighborhood. I was strolling around Amsterdam. I honestly can’t say exactly where I was. A friend and I were out for a walk and couldn’t take the crowds much longer. We walked a few blocks away from the congestion and …

A Week In Provence With Kids

I recently read an article that tackled the question, “Tuscany or Provence?” That was the first time I thought of the two locations comparatively. Italy’s Tuscany is a magical place full of history, vineyards and culinary delights. France’s Provence is, well, describable in very much the same way. Interestingly, we visited both Tuscany and Provence …

We like to put floats in on one side and make our way across the lagoon. The walking path along the lagoons is perfect for taking a stroll.

The only downside is the parking situation and the lack of affordable public parking.

The Bullship race was a great way to kick off race sailing. This for fun race does not take its self seriously. You compete for awards focused on being in the middle of the pack, coming in last and spending the most time capsized.

Thanks to the @pearlharboryachtclub for welcoming the boys and giving them a place to try new things and find an amazing group of friends.

We were lucky enough to come across this group of jellyfish. The current and tides bring them into the bay. The narrow opening makes it difficult to leave, so they end up in a smack!

We spent a lot of time in the wheelhouse with Captain Andy, even after years of sailing these waters, his breath was taken away.

Only about 30% of summer visitors get to see Denali fully out, and today we got one of those rare, crystal-clear views…from the Alaska Railroad.

At 20,310 feet, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America. Today it looked more like a painting than a mountain.

Watching her appear outside the train window is one of those moments we’ll be talking about for a long time.
