Parc Merveilleux is a truly European theme park and zoo located in Bettembourg, Luxembourg. It lacks the large rides that make up American “theme parks” and is instead filled with playgrounds, small animals and small rides. You can visit from Easter to early October. There is a parking lot across the street and when that …
Verdun was high on Jeff’s visit list for this trip for its World War I sights. The Battle of Verdun was the longest battle of World War I on the western front. Verdun’s surrounding area is full of World War I sights. Our first stop was the Citadelle, built in 1634. The fort served as …
I’m a big fan of sparkling wine, so when the chance to pass through the Champagne region of France presented itself we couldn’t pass it up. We headed to Epernay, which has titled itself the capitol of Champagne. Mercier is the big tourist draw in town. They have set up a full visit package. Tours …
As part of our France Passion RV road trip, we ended up at Chateau de Nitray for our overnight. We were looking forward to touring the property and tasting some of the wines. When we arrived, we could’t find anyone in the Chateau. We walked around a bit and left a note, as is the …
Texel, Netherlands blew me away with its charm. As the largest of the Dutch barrier islands, Texel provides a perfect getaway for an overnight or a full week vacation. We headed up early on Saturday morning for a weekend on the island. The kids were excited from the moment we pulled into the Texel ferry …
“Champpignons Delalande” or as we called them, The Mushroom Caves, is one of those strange stops that you have to make when traveling around a country in an RV. We actually almost didn’t make it here. As we approached the bridge, a large warning sign said large vehicles should use caution. We were close to …
Upon leaving Nantes, our France Passion trip took us through the Loire Valley. We opened our books and found a lovely looking vineyard in a small French town and set our sights on a stopover. Chateau D’Epire was another amazing little find. This vineyard has been in the family for six generations. We popped in …
Vienna is an amazing European city packed with things to do. We barely scratched the surface with our visit, but enjoyed the nice weather as best we could. It’s on our “to re-visit” list because there was so much more to see and do! Our flight arrived in the late afternoon into Vienna. Instead …
On a rainy Wednesday morning while my sister was visiting, I decided that when the kids got out of school (Wednesdays are half days) we would surprise them by driving to Apenheul in Apeldoorn. It had been on our Netherlands “to visit” list and today seemed like the day. When you translate the Apenheul webpage …
This was one of those incredible finds that we almost passed by but turned out to be a full day adventure with the kids. The number one reason we thought about skipping this attraction was its location in a city. We were so nervous about driving through the city in the RV. It was touch …
